In 2017, I bought a rundown ranch right outside downtown Greenville with plans to fix and flip it. I quickly realized the work needed was more extensive than I could have imagined and began what would be a 4 year renovation. During those four years, I formed friendships with my neighbors, developed partnerships in the community, and completed countless DIY projects. After all of that hard work, I couldn’t bear to part with the house and that’s when the idea for GetawayGVL was born! I’ve lived in Greenville for over 30 years and have watched our city become a destination for travelers across the country. Before GetawayGVL was your home away from home, it was Rutledge’s house (don’t worry, we cleaned REALLY well). Rutledge loves walking on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, playing fetch in GetawayGVL’s backyard, and exploring Greenville. He hopes you’ll love it as much as he did!

Rebuild Upstate
Rebuild Upstate is a nonprofit organization that exists to repair the homes of our low-income neighbors to make homes safer, healthier, and more livable. GetawayGVL donates a percentage of each booking to Rebuild Upstate - totaling over $1,200 this year!
Bridge City Coffee
The name “Bridge City” represents the relentless pursuit of healing and spanning divides between people and communities by building bridges; thus creating a better city for all of us to be a part of. You’ll find Bridge City Coffee stocked at GetawayGVL.
Group Therapy Pub & Playground
Group Therapy Pub & Playground is the first and only indoor entertainment venue in downtown Greenville. Matt, founder and co-owner, says, “We want everyone, everywhere, everyday to know they are worthy of love and belonging and that they are enough just the way they are.”
